  • Professor Xiaotao Bi Awarded Engineers Canada Fellowship

Congratulations to Professor Xiaotao Bi on being awarded a Fellowship with Engineers Canada. The Engineers Canada fellowships honour individuals who have given noteworthy service to the engineering profession through their work with either Engineers Canada or its provincial and territorial engineering regulators.  Dr. Bi has been a long-time volunteer with EGBC as a member of […] Read More

  • Fluidization XVI (May 26-31, 2019) Successfully Concluded

Fluidization is an important field of both fundamental research and broad industrial applications. Current understanding of the complex fluid-particle multiphase flow patterns, coupled with heat and mass transfer and chemical reactions, is still incomplete. With a long established tradition, this series of conferences has been held all over the world tackling challenges and successes with […] Read More

The Fluidization Research Centre (FRC) was established at the University of British Columbia (UBC) in 1997 with funding provided by the Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation (MCC), the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) and a number of other government and industrial sponsors. The Centre recognizes the strong reputation of UBC in fluidization and fluid-particle research funding from various governmental and industrial sponsors. The FRC conducts fundamental and applied research on fluidized bed reactors, their modeling and/or applications. FRC’s objective is to achieve better understanding of fluidization phenomena, develop generic fluidized bed reactor models, investigate new diagnostic methods and analysis techniques, and to improve understanding of fluidization behaviour to enable more reliable design and operation of industrial-scale fluidized bed reactors.
